IPTV on LG Smart TV (webOS): 5-minute setup

Works on LG TVs with webOS of any year where the LG Content Store is available. No set-top box needed: the app comes from the LG store and the playlist from your Utgard TV account.

What you need

  • A Utgard TV account with an active package or the 24-hour trial.
  • Your playlist link from the “Playlist” section of your account.
  • A TV with internet, preferably by cable.

No account yet? Create an account and start the trial: only an email is needed, no card.

In your account open “Playlist” and press “Copy link” next to the universal M3U8 link. The link is personal and contains your login and access code. If an app needs a file, “Download .m3u8” and “Download .m3u” are right there.

Step 2. Install an app and add the playlist

SS IPTV (free)

  1. Open the LG Content Store, find SS IPTV and install it.
  2. In the app open “Settings”, then “Content” and “External playlists”.
  3. Press “Add”, enter a name and the link from your account, save.
  4. A playlist tile appears on the home screen with channels sorted by group.

If typing with the remote is inconvenient, press “Get code” in the settings and upload the playlist with that code on ss-iptv.com from a computer or phone.

Smart IPTV (one-time activation)

  1. Install Smart IPTV from the LG Content Store, launch it and note the MAC address on screen.
  2. On siptv.eu enter the MAC and the playlist link, send.
  3. Restart the app; channels load by themselves.

After the trial period the app asks for a one-time activation per MAC. That fee goes to the app developer, not to Utgard TV.

OTT Player (free)

  1. Register at ottplayer.tv and add the Utgard TV playlist link there.
  2. Install OTT Player from the LG Content Store and sign in with your email.
  3. Channels appear right away and stay in sync with the playlist.

Step 3. TV guide, catch-up and quality

The guide is already in the playlist. If an app asks for an EPG address, enter http://epg.one/epg.xml. Catch-up and timeshift are available on popular channels where the app shows an archive icon.

5 Mbps is enough for HD, about 25 for 4K. On older webOS models with 1 GB of memory SS IPTV or OTT Player run lighter.

Troubleshooting

  • One channel, “Subscription not active”. Pay for a package or start the trial, then refresh the playlist.
  • The link is not accepted. Copy it in full, including the part after the question mark, or load the .m3u file.
  • Black screen on a channel. Try another channel and another app.
  • The app is slow. Close other TV apps, use a cable instead of Wi-Fi.
